I think it's high time I make this clearer. For members' benefit and mine as well! I can't seem to remember all the crazy permissions and don't want to remember. Most of you know that the Member's only and Private forums are closed to the public.

When I did my last design change, I also changed around some of the forum permissions. I am going to list them out here for documentation and so everyone can refer when they need to.

ForumMembersGuests
All forums under Member's Only (except Private topics)YesNo
Private topicsSelected membersNo
General Discussion, fun stuff, parenting, settling inYesCan see threads not contents
Site Help & AnnouncementsYesYes

Ok so basically All forums are member's only EXCEPT this under the help and announcements.

Everything else is for anyone who joins. With the exception of private topics - that is under the discretion of moderators.

When you log out, you can still see the forum and the topics we are discussing BUT when you click on it, you will be asked to log in.

Thanks, Lynette. This helps. I had not known 'Private topics' were for selected members only.

I also like that guests can only see most of the other topics and not read any.
