I have a nice photo from Hanukkah that I would really like to share with other members but unfortunately, it's taken with a digital camera and the pixels came to about 1292 x 1499 (file size 2.5MB). I also have another one which is from Kodak picture CD and the pixels are around the same.

How do I crop it to 640 x 640 so that I could upload it? I tried it with my photo editor but when I specify the pixels to 640 x 640. I could only fit our face in it...

Does your photo editor have a resize function instead of crop? What's the name of your editor software? I might have it and could give you a step by step instruction.

Eerr...I think I can only use the resize function if I pay for premium service. The software is Dell Image Editor.

Ok, if you're not adverse to installing new software, I highly recommend IrfanView to everyone here. It's a photo viewer packed with some editing functions. Very simple to use and very small. Won't take much space on your computer. Best of all it's free! Click here

I've used this (among others) for many years. Great for cropping, resizing, slideshows etc for your digital pictures.

I usually share my photos through ofoto.com
There's one picture from Christmas that I would like to share on this site.  But I don't know how to upload that particular photo.  I have the photo in a Word file too. Can somebody please provide me with some instructions?  Thanks so much! :-)

Okay I'll try my best to explain in steps as easy to follow as possible.

To upload pictures on this website, click on the Photo Album link on the menu (left). Right under the category listings, just before the photos start, you will see a line of text There are X number of Images in our Database. Add Photo . Click on Add Photo

It will bring you to a page to upload the photo. To conserve space on our website we set the maximum photo size to 640x640 and file size to 100,000. Don't worry if you can't figure that out, the system will just tell you its too large... just a pain though sorry.

Type in a title, put a little description if you wish about the photo. Choose the best category this photo will fall into. Lastly upload by clicking on 'Browse'. A window should come up on your screen and you need to find the picture file you want to upload. Select it (very much like looking for a file using MS Word etc). If you're satisfied, hit submit and voila!

As for the picture in the document, you need to save the picture on its own. What I do is open MSWord, right click and select copy then I fire up one of my photo editors, even the free Irfanview will do, and paste it into the photo editor then save as a .JPG file. I don't know about image loss I'm sure there's some degree but for web use it should be ok.

THANKS Lyn! I tried again and saved the file as "webpage" before posting, SUCCESS!  Thing is, I was too 'kan cheong' and did not write any description or title...I described it as a 'comment' instead...how to correct that?  Like the picture??

No problems Jeannie. Nice picture! I posted a comment on it too. Oh boy I do like that bright orange wall in your home. I'm trying to spruce up our home and thought I'd tackle our common bathroom first. Plan a bright yellow or maybe a seascape them. Dunno yet.

If you ever need to edit any photos after uploading, such as right now or made a spelling mistake etc, go to the picture, on the bottom left hand corner you will see a tiny icon that looks like a pen on paper. Click that and make your changes then hit submit. Just don't check the delete box or re-upload because delete well.. deletes :-D and re-upload will upload the picture again so if you chose another picture it will replace the old picture. Handy if you uploaded the wrong pic ;-)

Ah! Got it!  I followed your instruction and succeeded.  However, my first comment became 'test' because it wouldn't allow me to delete?
Lyn, I'd say go for it!  I love yellow walls! You just have to follow your heart.
Sam and I have done a lot to our house since we moved in 2002.  We ripped off the carpet of the entire main floor, and put in ceramic tiles (terra cotta brownish red!), put in laminated wood for the stairs, painted one wall orange, put on bamboo blinds, and our latest project was building a pergola in the yard...from scratch.  Maybe I should post a photo of the pergola. All these sounded scary at first, but after we'd completed the projects, we felt so satisfied with the outcome (though not professional), and now we appreciate this home even more because of the hard work.
Saved big bucks since we did everything ourselves...thanks to Home Depot!
